This is one of the most enchanting and picturesque treks leading from Kullu Valley into scenic Kangra Valley. Magnificent Himalayan vista opens up as the trail leads through myriad of streams, evergreen forests and lush green meadows strewn with an amazing variety of wild alpine flowers. Fauna that can be seen – from the Himalayan brown bears to the exclusive musk deer. Each day presents different beautiful landscapes all lavishly decorated.

Day 1

ARRIVAL IN DELHI

Meet upon arrival in Delhi International Airport and check into the hotel for rest and relaxation after a long flight. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 2

DELHI /CHANDIGARH /MANALI – 2,050m (6,726ft) / 4hrs train ride and 5-6hrs car drive

Departure: 6am

Early morning transfer to New Delhi railway station to catch train for Chandigarh. After 4 hours train ride we board car for Manali. This is a 5-6hrs scenic mountain drive. Manali, a beautiful Himalayan hill station nestled near the Northern end of the Kullu Valley at an altitude of 2,050m (6,726ft) in the Beas River Valley. Evening explore the surroundings. Evening opening dinner ceremony and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 3

IN MANALI

Departure: 10am

After breakfast relaxing walks around Manali, see local markets, culture, temples and monasteries.  After lunch everybody will be given free time for personal activities. Use this day for acclimatization and last preparations before long trek. Evening opening dinner ceremony. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 4

MANALI / LAMADUGO – 3,440m (11,286ft) / 5-6hrs trekking

Departure: 9am

This beautiful Himalayan trek starts from Hadimba Devi Temple located 2.5km (1.553mi) from Manali. The first day leads through cool forests of the giant cedar, alder and oak trees. The trail ascends gently at first and after two hours of walk we reach the place where an extensive view of Kully Valley appears and slowly fades into the distant as the first campsite in the lush green meadows of Lamadugh is reached, at the height of 3,440m (11,286ft) with outstanding views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. One can see peaks like Inderason at 6,220m (20,406ft) and Deo Tibba at 6,000m (19,685ft). Overnight in tents near by the stream.

Day 5

LAMADUGO / RAYALI – 6-7hrs trekking

Departure: 8 am

Now the trek ascends steeply through hilly ridge below Thanpari Tibba. On the way we can enjoy an excellent view of Manali town and upper Kully valley. The climb takes us to a small lake called Ranisuri. While continue following the trail, we reach camping place at Rayali meadow. Overnight in tents.

Day 6

RAYALI / SHANGOR 3,800m (12,467ft) / 5-6hrs trekking

Departure: 8am

An uphill trek through lush green forests leads to campsite at the base of Kalihani Pass called Shangor at the elevation of 3,800m (12,467ft). We camp where the tree line finishes and where we have a view of Himalayan peak of Kully and a view of Lahaul valley, both presenting an unforgettable Himalayan panorama. Overnight in tents.

Day 7

SHANGOR / KALIHANI PASS / DHAN KO THACH – 4,640m (15,223ft) / 7-8hrs trekking

Departure: 7am

Today the landscape slowly begins to change, as forests and meadows give way to rocky back-drops with patches of snow. Steep climb through glacier and moraine leads to the Kalihani Pass at elevation of 4,640m (15,223ft), where we have views of all major peaks of Kully and Lahaul valley. Descent starts through the small patches of snow and ice along the stream which originates from the pass. Trek takes us to the camp site at Dhan Ko Thach. Overnight in tent.

Day 8

DHAN KO THACH / LAMBA PARAO – 3,150m (10,334ft) / 6-7hrs trekking

Departure: 8am

Today our trek leads down into the shepherd’s valley, following the stream and after crossing the bridge takes us to the camping area. Overnight in tents in Lamba Parao at elevation of 3,150m (10,334ft).

Day 9

LAMBA PARAO / SUNI PARAO – 3,000m (9,842ft) / 4-5hrs trekking

Departure: 8am

The trek passes through rocky terrain which is later replaced by beautiful Himalayan meadows. Overnight in tents at elevation of 3000m (9842ft) at Suni Parao campsite

Day 10

SUNI PARAO / BARABANGAL – 5-6hrs trekking

Departure: 8am

It is very pleasant gradual downhill walk in beautiful Himalayan surroundings at Bara Bangal area. We reach camping site just near the village of Bara Bangal, the winter home of the Gaddies (nomadic shepherds) who are supposed to be the descendants of Alexander the Great! Overnight in tents.

Day 11

IN BARABANAGAL

Departure: 10am

Bara Bangal is a remote and isolated village, accessible only for four to five months in a year. The inhabitants are the legendary Himalayan shepherds – the Gaddies – who leads a nomadic life with their vast flocks of sheep heading into high mountain pastures once the snow melts and then returning to their isolated existence in the village. Today we take a walk to their tribal village to see different culture and to interact with this interesting community. By the evening back to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 12

BARABANAGAL / MARHU – 3,850m (12,631ft) / 6hrs trekking

Departure: 8am

The trek winds its way up after crossing the bridge of Bara Bangal. Walk through the forests takes us to the beautiful camping site at the base of Thamsar Pass named Marhu – at elevation of 3,850m (12,631ft). Overnight in tents by the stream.

Day 13

MARHU / THAMSAR PASS / PANIHARTU – 4,700m (15,419ft) / 6-7hrs trekking

Departure: 8am

The climb through the snow leads to the glacier and then to Thamsar Pass at 4,700m (15,419ft). It is a beautiful location with panoramic view of Himalayan peaks of Kangra, Lahoul and Spiti vallies as well as Kully valley. After descending about 5km (3mi) we arrive at camp site at Panihartu at elevation of 3,600m (11,811ft) for overnight stay.

Day 14

PANIHARTU / PLACHAK – 2,424m (7,952ft) / 6-7hrs trekking

Departure: 8am

Today the trail slowly emerges from the rocky terrain into the softer landscape of lakes, meadows and forests. Numerous lakes dot the countryside interspersed by cascading waterfalls. A descent through green wooded slope leads to the camp site of Plachak at the elevation of 2,424m (7,952ft). Overnight in tents near the village.

Day 15

PLACHAK / BILLING – 2,424m (7,952ft) / 6hrs trekking

Departure: 8am

A very pleasant trek through leafy bridle path and tiny villages leads us to a small village named Billing situated at the elevation of 2,424m (7,952ft) for our next camping. Overnight stay in tent.

Day 16

BILLING / BIR / DHARAMSALA – 2,080m (6,824ft) / 3-4hrs trekking, 2hrs drive

Departure: 8am

On the way extensive views of the lush green Kangra valley are the welcome sites and soon the steep descent ends at the tiny Tibetan settlement of Bir at the elevation of 2080m (6824ft), the land of the legendary Gaddies. From Bir we travel to Dharamsala by car/jeep. After arrival check in a hotel. After fresh up visit Dalai Lama’s residency. In the evening closing dinner ceremony. Overnight stay in a hotel in Dharamsala.

Day 17

DHARAMSALA / PATHANKOT / DELHI – 8-9hrs train ride

Departure: 8am

After breakfast two hours car/jeep transfer to Pathankot railway station to catch train for Delhi. Arrive in Delhi for overnight stay in a hotel. Packed lunch provided for this leg of journey.

Day 18

DEPARTURE FROM DELHI

Breakfast in a hotel, 12 noon check out and transfers to Delhi International Airport.
